Brent Staples Essay
In the beginning of the story as I started to read I started to identify the author as a type of person to start trouble and tamper with women as the women are on their destinations, I identified the first victim which in the beginning of the story I thought was the woman to be scared because it was night time and it was a dark street and she was alone. As I continued reading the story I started to realize and understand that the author was just a regular human being going home as well not wanting any trouble with anybody, and most of all not trying to start trouble with anybody. The more I read the story the more I began to get a little upset but more interested in the story because the author was a typical person trying to get home like any regular person at night after working or going to school. The fact that the author was a tall African American male people thought of him to be a rapist, murderer, or some type of trouble maker, in reality the author was a college student just walking down the street minding his own business not bothering anybody. The story had a little bit of an impact on me because it doesn't matter where you are or what you do if your;e an African American regardless of your sex, different races are going to treat all blacks the same, like all blacks are all rapists, murderers, and trouble makers and thats not true. I have learned to really respect all of the African Americans that have made it some what easy for us blacks today. Now that I am older and I have learned alot growing up no matter where you are or what you do people are still racist in the world today, and blacks are still considered rapists, murderers, etc in the world. I have experienced some racism towards me but I have learned to let it go because people are ignorant and they are going t0 think what they want to think anyway.

The Best Story Mee Street Part 1- The Tales Of Jim Crow
The Tales of Jim Crow was most interesting to me, I did not grow up during the times when it was really hard for African Americans. When I was a child I was told many different stories of how black people were abused and mistreated. As a child being told the stories about African Americans I did not understand the stories and I did not understand that back in those days as a child I could not go to the park and play because of the color of my skin. At times at my age now I feel that I have experienced a form of prejudice but not a lot. Now that I have gotten older and now that I have learned more about people being prejudice and I have grown more to understand the many differences over the year. I have never been prejudice to anybody because I'm not a prejudice person.
Scotch on the Rocks
The most important idea that I learned from the story as a reader is that no matter what how down you get you don't always have to turn to alcohol. Even though depression and peer pressure may get the best of you, you as a human being or a person with problems doesn't always have to use alcohol as a excuse or a way to escape your problems you don't have to turn to alcohol all the time. Alcohol can kill you quicker than any problem or any hurtful or harmful words can. A lot of college students drink a lot alcohol because it's fun and because their classmates drink alcohol not knowing the consequences that they have to suffer in the long run. I have experienced drinking alcohol before and when you are in that moment the feeling is fun but when get the feelings after drinking a lot of alcohol it's not fun at all, I have my share of drinking alcohol but I am not an alcoholic I do not drink all the time and I rarely drink on occasions.

English is my Sole Language
English is considered my sole language because it is the only language that I speak, read, write, and understand. When I am talking to my friends and my peers I use slang its some what of an habit I can't help myself. When I am speaking to adults or I am on a job interview I use the proper and the correct grammar. I use the correct English when I am handling very important business or when I am talking to important people I am a very confident person when it comes to speaking English and using the correct grammar for the English language. I have a habit using English slang when I am talking to my friends or people my age and it's not like I do it on purpose it's just that it's a habit that I have and sometimes I try and break the habit but it's so hard, I want to learn to be bilingual and use other languages but it's hard because I am so used to using English, speaking, writing, and reading English.

Lab Experience
My experience in the lab was very good and fun, I already know the basics of how to use an computer and how to get on the internet but I really love the experience of being able to help my class mates when they needed help on their projects. I also really like the lab experience of being introduced to many new websites. Overall I really enjoyed my first lab experience and I know that this will not be my last experience in the lab.

Why should a person want to learn about there culture
A person should learn about their culture to know all the facts of their culture.
I am apart of the African American Culture and that culture is great I have learned so much about my culture and I am still learning more things about my culture, what I love most about my culture is that we are all one of a kind my culture has a past that is a past to always remember and always give us something to talk about and be thankful about. African Americans have been through so much in life from slavery to racism and many more things in life I am glad to be an African American I love my culture and I will not change it for nothing in the world. African Americans have alot of brave ancestors such as Harriet Tubman, George Washington- Carver, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King Jr. just to name a few we as African Americans have alot of fallen soldiers that have fought for us to get the things that we need and want today with out our fallen soldiers from the past we will not have the privelege that we have today.
